The so-called „last of the series” cars, whether we were looking at sporty two doors, or luxury sedans, always tend to become of interest for automotive enthousiasts. The BMW 7-series E23 makes no exception. Manufactured between 1977 and 1986, the E32 predecessor was sold on the American for one year more as a 1987-model-year and called L7. This special version was based upon the 735i model, equipped with the well known and robust M30 code engine of 3.4-litre of displacement. Differently from its European counterpart, and due do emissions regulations, the engine was rated under 200 horsepower, at 182 and was mated to a ZF automatic 4-speed gearbox. Most importantly, the L7 was advertised as the ultimate and most luxurious E23 manufactured by BMW. It was stuffed with „power-everything”, from windows, to electrically adjustable and heated seats, and the whole interior – including dashboard and doors – was covered in leather. Something unseen so far compared to its direct competition of the W126 Mercedes-Benz S class.

The L7 offered up for auction left the factory in polaris-silver metallic exterior and white leather interior. It was purchased three years ago in the United States and imported with all EU duties paid to Poland, where it was comprehensively refreshed and partially restored prior of joining a 1980s „iconic” car collection which core is made by US-versions of European cars from that era. All this was performed mainly because of the car's „driver” mileage of 201.000 miles. Work included dismantling of the exterior parts, a full paint job, and fitting new body seals where needed. For the interior were performed: leather seats restoration, new leather upholstery for the dashboard with BMW period correct leather. In terms of mechanics an engine overhaul was made, with new belts and belt tensioners, and also a traditional oil service.

The car presents well, drives very good, and is absolutely rust free. The L7 was mainly a display car for private museum purposes, hence it still needs a bit of attention: rear light covers are broken, as well as the front windshield, and thus need replacement, the antenna is missing, various small details in the interior (buttons) might need attention. Although well made, the paintjob needs a tone correction on the right front fender. Of course the L7 has its original books and documentation present.

The car is original. No modifications - all you might find on the car is matching factory specifications.

Please note the German number plates on the car in the pictures are for display purposes – the car holds a US clean title.
