The Renault Alpine GTA and the succeeding A610 is a sports coupe automobile produced by the Renault-owned French manufacturer Alpine between late 1984 and 1995.
It was the first car launched by Alpine under Renault ownership (though Alpine had been affiliated with Renault for many years, with its earlier models using many Renault parts). Longer, wider, and taller, it effectively updated the design of its predecessor, the Alpine A310, updating that car's silhouette with modern design features like body-integrated bumpers and a triangular C-pillar with large rear windshield. Like its predecessor, it used the V6 PRV engine in a rear-engined layout, with extensive use of Polyester plastics and fibreglass for the body panels making it lighter and quicker than rivals such as the Porsche 944. Passenger room increased, making the rear seat more of a useful proposition, while equipment was much more complete and now included items such as power locks. It was one of the most aerodynamic cars of its time, the naturally aspirated version achieved a record 0.28 drag coefficient in its class. Due to its bigger tires and need for more cooling intakes, the Turbo's drag coefficient was a bit higher: 0.30. This meant its top speed could match much more powerful and expensive cars.
In the turbo version, 3.982 examples were produced.
The GTA name, used to denote the entire range of this generation, stands for "Grand Tourisme Alpine" but in most markets the car was marketed as the Renault Alpine V6 GT or as the Renault Alpine V6 Turbo.
A legendary sports car that has become an icon of French automotive history. Its sleek and aerodynamic design, coupled with its powerful V6 turbocharged engine and agile handling, made it a true driver's car that was beloved by enthusiasts all over the world.
The Renault Alpine V6 Turbo GTA was known for its nimble handling and responsive driving dynamics. Its lightweight construction, which included an aluminum body and chassis, helped to keep the car's weight down to just 1,180 kg, which made it a joy to drive on winding roads and through tight corners.
The car's design and engineering influenced many subsequent Renault models, including the Renault Spider and the Renault Clio V6. It also inspired other sports cars of the era, such as the Porsche 944 and the Lotus Esprit. It is a true legend of French automotive history, and its legacy lives on to this day. Its sleek design, powerful engine, and nimble handling made it a true driver's car that is still cherished by enthusiasts around the world. Whether you are a fan of classic sports cars or simply appreciate excellent engineering and design, the Renault Alpine V6 Turbo GTA is a car that is well worth experiencing.
Two years ago the car underwent major repairs (exhaust, alternator, fuel system, ABS sensor replacement, etc..) Since then the car has been in working order and garaged in a depository. Only basic maintenance (engine oil and filter, spark plugs, spark plug wires, air filter and brake fluid) has been done later. Car for sale due to selling off private collection.
