TOP SALES OF THE WEEK 32/2020

It was not easy to pick just 3 top sales this time, our short list had 9 finalists this time. All final 3 picks come this time from European auctions, although one of them was an aftersale deal bought directly by us. And one of the picks also meets the requirements to be evaluated by our Mille Miglia cars on budget score.
1. TOP SALE OF THE WEEK – Porsche 911E Coupe (1972)
Our top sale of the week has to be the car, we have personally bought 😊 The car was unsold in the Historics at Brooklands auction, but we went to visit the car personally after the auction and after a week the aftersale deal was agreed. The car is comprehensively restored rare “Oil klapper” model with matching numbers and a very rare color combination of Gold metallic over Brown leather interior. SO the final price of 75.500 GBP including fees agreed on the 29th of July was a really great buy. You can find more information about not only this purchase in our story The London Trip. 1959 Alfa romeo giulietta sprintImage credit: Silverstone Auctions2. TOP SALE OF THE WEEK – Alfa Romeo Giulietta Sprint (1959)
The second pick comes from another interesting british auction event, this time held by Silverstone Auctions. It was not easy to pick our favorite top pick from this venue, but we decide to give to a 1959 Alfa Romeo Giulietta Sprint. Still an early European 750B example in a great condition and in a very nice color combination of Bianco Nube over blue/light grey interior was equipped already with the not so desired floor shifter, but that can be even a plus, if you want to drive the car regularly. The final result of 41.625 GBP including premium achieved on the 1st of August was only at 59 percent of the middle estimate. (auction link)
3. TOP SALE OF THE WEEK – Ford Thunderbird (1955)
The last pick goes to a Mille Miglia eligible car, a 1955 Ford Thunderbird. This model year painted also red participated at the Mille Miglia in 1957. The Thunderbird was a great success when developed as a response to the Chevrolet Corvette with sales reaching 16.155 examples in the first production year 1955 versus only 674 Corvettes sold. But this makes it the only bigger disadvantage for the rising value and also for the Miglia Mille, there are altogether 53.166 first series Thunderbirds built, that are all Mille Miglia eligible. That makes a lower probability of accepting an example for the race and the overall score of 25,06 points in our MM cars on budget list does not bring the car into the top 40. But the example sold in a No Reserve auction at Catawiki on the 27th of July for 20.710 EUR including premium was a really great price to value. (auction link)
